your space, your manifesto
The European elections in 2009 will shape the European Union and its Member States for the five years 2009-2014. The PES has a big ambition: for all Europe’s socialist, social democratic and labour parties to go united into those elections with a common progressive manifesto. A manifesto that gives the people a clear choice between left and right - between the Party of European Socialists and Europe’s assorted conservatives, liberals and extremists.
A manifesto that members of Europe’s socialist, social democratic and labour parties - and progressive people throughout Europe - have shaped through open discussion and debate.

Our ideas are outlined under the four themes of the consultation (Save our planet, New Social Europe, European democracy & diversity and EU in the world) Now we want your input, your ideas, your comments.
The consultation runs from September 2007 until June 2008.
How will the manifesto be drawn up?
The PES manifesto will be adopted by the PES Council - a mini-Congress with voting representatives from all member parties - in November 2008. From October 2007 until June 2008 the PES is consulting member parties and its members on what should be in that manifesto. A draft manifesto will be drawn up on the basis of that consultation, and there will be discussions within the PES between the end of the consultation and the adoption of the final manifesto document.
